LIFE IN PINOSO
One of the major attractions of this property is its location close to Pinoso (El Pinós), a traditional inland Alicante town surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and mountains.
Pinoso offers something increasingly difficult to find: authentic Spanish country living combined with a good range of everyday amenities.
The town has a population of around 8,000–8,300 residents, giving it a friendly, manageable feel while still having the services you need for day-to-day life. A particularly attractive feature for international buyers is its multicultural community. Municipal data has previously recorded residents from more than 50 nationalities, with a sizeable British community alongside Spanish and other European residents.
This makes Pinoso a particularly appealing choice for people moving to Spain who want to become part of a community rather than live in an isolated rural development.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED CLOSE BY
Pinoso has a surprisingly comprehensive range of amenities for a town of its size.
There are several supermarkets, independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, together with schools, a secondary school, adult education, medical services and numerous local businesses. The town also has a public health centre and a good range of sporting facilities.
For example, the town currently has supermarkets including Supermercados Consum, HIPERBER PINOSO 2 and Supermercados Dia, along with a variety of restaurants and cafés.
There are also primary schools, a secondary school and adult education facilities, making the area suitable not only for retirees and holiday-home owners but also for families.
SPORT, LEISURE & OUTDOOR LIFE
Pinoso has an unusually good range of sporting facilities, including football pitches, sports halls, tennis, padel, swimming pools, pétanque, frontón, climbing facilities and a municipal gym. The municipality also runs organised sporting activities including swimming, hiking, Pilates, cycling and other fitness activities.
For anyone buying a country property, the surrounding landscape is equally important. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, exploring the countryside and enjoying the vineyards, olive groves and traditional rural scenery.
WINE, FOOD & SPANISH CULTURE
Pinoso has a strong connection with wine and gastronomy. The surrounding countryside is an important wine-producing area and the town promotes wine tourism, with local wineries and opportunities to discover the area's wines. Pinoso is particularly associated with Fondillón, the region's historic sweet wine.
The town also has a traditional centre with attractions including the Clock Tower, San Pedro Apóstol church, the municipal market and Casa de Don Pedro. Around the municipality are traditional dry-stone “cucos”, old rural structures characteristic of the local landscape.
There is a lively calendar of local events too, including Carnival, Semana Santa, the Día del Villazgo and the annual August fiestas, giving residents plenty of opportunities to experience traditional Spanish culture and community life.
NEARBY TOWNS & CITIES
Although Pinoso provides most everyday necessities, you are also well placed for exploring the surrounding area.
Monóvar – approximately 19km
A nearby traditional Alicante town offering additional shops, restaurants and services.
Elda – approximately 28km
A larger urban centre with a much wider range of shopping, commercial and professional services. Elda also provides access to the important Elda-Petrer railway station.
Yecla – approximately 28km
Located just over the provincial border in Murcia, Yecla is another substantial town with shops, restaurants, supermarkets and services.
Villena – approximately 37km
A historic city with a castle, wider shopping and commercial facilities and, importantly, a high-speed rail connection.
This gives you the best of both worlds – a peaceful rural home near Pinoso, with larger towns and cities within easy driving distance.
EXCELLENT CONNECTIONS
Despite its rural character, Pinoso is surprisingly accessible.
According to the Pinoso Town Hall:
Alicante Airport – approximately 61km / 45 minutes
Murcia Airport – approximately 87km / 1 hour 20 minutes
Elda-Petrer railway station – approximately 29km / 32 minutes
Villena AVE high-speed railway station – approximately 37km / 33 minutes
There are also bus connections to Alicante and Murcia, as well as licensed taxi services within Pinoso.
This is particularly attractive for international buyers who want the peace of a country property but still need straightforward access to airports, high-speed trains and larger towns.
