Vrijstaande villa in La Cala de Mijas, Costa del Sol

THIS PROPERTY IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. If you are seeking a sleek, architect-designed contemporary residence within a conventional urban development — complete with paved roads, street lighting, limited outlooks and neighbouring properties close by — this is not the home for you. If, however, your priorities are space, privacy, tranquillity, and uninterrupted countryside views — a home set within its own land, where the Andalusian landscape unfolds before you rather than the windows of neighbouring houses — then you may wish to continue. This is not a show home. It is not a minimalist design statement created for a specific market. It is not a property conceived to be built and sold in quick succession. It is a genuine family home, thoughtfully designed and cherished for more than 25 years by owners who have sought something increasingly rare in Málaga province: privacy, space, character, and a genuine connection with the Andalusian landscape. Sensitively Architect-designed but built to modern standards, yet inspired by the traditional Spanish Cortijo, it is approached through substantial oak-panelled doors rescued from an old hotel in Málaga into a vaulted entrance hall with exposed beams. From there, the house opens into an elegant salon, with bespoke fitted cabinetry framing a highly efficient open fireplace imported from a French foundry. The result is a home with warmth, character, and understated refinement — designed not merely to impress on arrival, but to be lived in, enjoyed and shared with family and friends over many years. There are no estate roads at the entrance. No street lighting intruding upon the night. No neighbouring properties pressing against the boundaries. Instead, there are approximately 10,000 m² of private, mature grounds, manicured lawns and gardens, expansive terraces, a swimming pool, a four-bedroom house with three bathrooms, a study connected to the internet via Starlink with every item of IT equipment one could ask for, leading on from the spacious sitting room to a formal dining room and then on to a large, open-plan, cottage-style kitchen and informal dining area opening onto three generous terraces designed for outdoor living and entertaining. There is also an adjoining guest cottage, which includes a sitting room kitchenette bathroom and a huge dining terrace looking up to the Mijas mountains. The cottage can either remain entirely independent or, if required, be incorporated into the main house. If desired it could be converted into a master suit comprising a large double bedroom plus two bathrooms and two double bedrooms if parents need to sleep near their children A productive kitchen garden and even a croquet lawn complete a setting that is as much about enjoying the land as living in the house. And yet, despite its seclusion, the property is far from isolated. The lively coastal town of La Cala de Mijas, with its beaches, restaurants, numerous supermarkets, banks and all the facilities one needs, is only a 10-minute drive away. Four renowned golf courses are close by or within view. Marbella and Málaga Airport are approximately thirty minutes away, and Málaga itself is around 40 minutes’ drive.. This is a property for those who understand and value what cannot easily be created or acquired. For them, luxury is no longer simply about what one pays for a property. It is about having the privacy, peace, and time to enjoy a beautiful environment in the company of their closest friends and family. That is exactly what this property affords.
